Venue maps launch with this release of the Blackthorn Event Navigator app. Attendees can open your venue maps, see where each session takes place, and jump from a session straight to its spot on the map. This release also makes profile editing more dependable and keeps the Constituents and Speakers A to Z index in place on iOS. Version 1.10 for iOS and Android.

✨ What's new

🗺️ Venue maps

Attendees can now find their way around your venue from inside the app. Version 1.10 includes fixes to the map, so ask attendees to update for the best experience.

  • Open the map: Attendees open your venue maps from the Map tab, or from the View Venue Maps button on the Info tab. If you add more than one map, for example one per floor, attendees switch between them.
  • See what's where: Pins are numbered and named. Tapping a pin shows its description and the sessions held there, and attendees can add a session to their agenda right from the pin. Attendees see only the sessions their ticket includes.
  • Find a session: Tapping View on Map on a session opens the map on the right floor, zoomed in on where that session takes place. From the full-screen map, Back returns attendees to the session they came from.
  • Zoom in: Attendees pinch to zoom and drag to move around the map.

Organizers set up venue maps in Salesforce: add a map for each floor plan, place pins for your locations, and link each session to its pin. Venue maps need Blackthorn Events 5.54 or later. See Venue Maps for setup.

🐛 What's fixed

🙋 Your profile

  • About Me changes lost on a second save: Previously, if you edited About Me and saved, then edited it again, the second save could exit without saving anything and without showing an error. Every save is now kept. About Me is saved as plain text, so formatting and links are removed.
  • Profile edit screen looked different from the rest of the app: Previously, tapping Edit on your profile made the text visibly smaller, and the Additional Info picklists showed larger text than the fields beside them. Text sizes now match the profile view and the rest of the app.
  • Cancel left the profile screen: Previously, tapping Cancel while editing your profile took you out of the profile altogether. Cancel now returns you to your profile, unchanged.

🔤 Lists

  • A to Z index moved on iOS: Previously, on iOS, the alphabetical index beside the Constituents and Speakers lists shifted up after you opened someone and came back. It now stays in place.

Known issue: On a venue map, if you tap a pin and then a session in the pin's detail sheet, the sheet's X button may not close it afterward. Swipe the sheet down to close it. A fix is planned.

⚙️ Requirements

  • iOS: iOS 16 or later. Unchanged from 1.9.
  • Android: Android 8.0 or later. Unchanged from 1.9. This build targets Android 16 (API level 36), as Google Play requires; there is nothing to do.
  • Salesforce: venue maps need Blackthorn Events 5.54 (the June 2026 release) or later. We recommend 5.61 (the September 2026 release) or later, which fixes saving more than one session on a pin. If you're already on it, there is nothing new to install for this build.

⬆️ How to upgrade

Update the Blackthorn Event Navigator app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Attendees with automatic updates on receive it without doing anything. Learn more in the Event Navigator Overview.
