The Blackthorn Event Navigator app (previously codenamed “Passport”) puts critical Event information in your Attendees' hands when they need it. Attendees can manage their agenda at multi-session Events, view venue maps, and access their Ticket(s) in one place. They can also add and remove free Sessions at the Event, saving everyone time.

Benefits
Easy Setup
Configuring the Navigator app is as simple as enabling it on an Event record, uploading necessary maps, and adjusting navigation labels. Your organization and Event's branding automatically carries over to the app. Event Organizers can make the app available to Attendees immediately.
Effortless Updates
This app is an extension of the Blackthorn Events app, saving Event Organizers time and effort. Since Salesforce stores the data, organizers no longer need to migrate data or update information in multiple apps. Updates to Sessions and registrations are reflected in the Blackthorn Event Navigator app, creating a seamless experience for Attendees.
Real-time Notifications
Event Organizers and event staff can use push notifications to send Attendees just-in-time Session reminders, agenda updates, or last-minute venue changes.
Attendee Connections
The Blackthorn Event Navigator app facilitates connections. Attendees can browse Attendee lists and share social media profiles to forge networks that last beyond the Event. Event Organizers can leverage the social media profiles (LinkedIn, X (Twitter), or Instagram) shared by Attendees to enrich Attendees' records.
Saves Time and Resources
The Blackthorn Event Navigator app eliminates the need for Event Organizers to print and reprint agendas, reducing waste and saving time. Updating information in multiple places or maintaining an integration is no longer necessary. Event staff can be deployed to other high-priority tasks during the Event since most Attendees’ navigation and Session registrations are now self-serve.
Blackthorn Event Navigator App Logic
An Attendee can see an Event in their Blackthorn Event Navigator app if the following is true.
- The Event record’s Enable Navigator Attendee Mobile App field is set to “True.”
- The Event record’s Publish field is set to “True” (checked).
- The Attendee has a related Event Item, and their Registration Status is set to “Registered.”
- Past Events show Events that ended within the past 30 days. Current Events include Events that end today or later.
Prerequisites
Event Organizers
- To use the Navigator app and have access to the latest changes for the Navigator personal AttendeeLink, your Salesforce org must have Events Version 5.9 or higher.
- Organizations must have adequate API calls available to support the duration of the Event.
- Example: 3,000-Attendee Event
- If Attendees pre-register for Sessions, we estimate approximately 40,000 API calls within the first four hours as Attendees arrive.
- If Attendees register for Sessions upon arrival, we estimate approximately 90,000 API calls within the first four hours as Attendees arrive.
- Important Note: These estimates do not include API calls used by the (separate) Mobile Check-in app.
- Future releases will reduce the volume of API calls needed to support the app.
- Example: 3,000-Attendee Event
- Data is currently not regionalized, causing it to be sent only to US servers. This configuration does not comply with regulations in Australia and some other countries.
- Initially, the Blackthorn Event Navigator app will use an Attendee’s email address as a unique identifier for each Event. If multiple Attendees share the same email address for the same Event, only one person can access the Event on the app.
- A preview mode is not available yet. To preview your Event in the app, you must create an Attendee for yourself and log into the app as that Attendee.
Attendees
- Available on iOS and Android mobile phones only.
- Blackthorn does not provide Attendee-facing customer support. Attendees must send their inquiries to the Event Organizer. If the Event Organizer needs additional information, they should open a case with Blackthorn Support.
“Passport” was the internal name of the Blackthorn Event Navigator app while we developed the app. If you see labels using “Passport,” please upgrade the app to the newest version.
