Get Started with Event Tracking

Blackthorn Events offers several ways to gather information about who visits your Event webpages and how they use them.

• Google Tag Manager (GTM)
• Google Tag ID
• Google Conversions
• UTM Parameters

Before you can use the Google Tag Manager (GTM) or Google Tag ID, you must create a (GA4) Google Analytics account.

Create a (GA4) Google Analytics Account

If you already have a (GA4) Google Analytics account, please go to the next section.

1. Go to https://analytics.google.com.
2. Click Start measuring.
3. Select all options for account data sharing.
4. Click Next.
5. Enter a name for the property and select a time zone and currency.
6. Click Next.
7. Select an industry category and business size.
8. Click Next.
9. Select how you will use Google Analytics.
10. Click Create.
11. Select “WEB” for the data stream. (For the website URL, use events.blackthorn.io (https://events.blackthorn.io/).)
12. Enter a Stream name.
13. Click Create stream.
14. Save the measurement id (or Google Analytics Id) from the newly created data stream. It will start with 'G-'.
