Enhancements

Improve the A2P Submission Process

The A2P submission process is crucial for businesses and organizations that send automated messages to users' phone numbers. To enhance this process, we added a new step called Account Activation that will occur between the Account Registration and Phone Number Setup steps.

The Account Activation step requires users to activate their account before adding phone numbers for A2P messaging. The goal is to help prevent errors that may occur due to incomplete or inaccurate account information.

User Experience

After completing the initial Account Registration, users will see the Account Activation screen. Users must enter the Contact Information, Business Information and Usage & Content details. The screens will provide clear instructions and a guided path to activate an account.

Error Handling for Incomplete Activation

If a user attempts to add phone numbers for A2P messaging without completing the Account Activation step, they will encounter an error message. The error message is - "Please submit A2P details using a guided path and try again.”

Updated Account Setup Process

Perform the following steps to set up your account.

  1. Complete the Account Registration by providing the Account Number and API key provided by Blackthorn Support.

  2. Click the Account Activation tab.

  3. Complete the fields in the General Business Information window.

    • Business Name (required)
    • Business Address (required)
    • Industry (required)
    • Company Website (required)

  5. Complete the fields in the Business Entity Information window.

    • Business Entity Type (required)
    • Business Registration Number (required)
    • Business Registration Number Type (required)

  7. Complete the fields in the Usage & Content window.

  11. Review the information in the Review & Submit window.

After successful completion of all the steps, the Account Activation gets submitted to Twilio.

Validating A2P Details

Validating A2P details is a crucial step that occurs when sending automated messages to users via platforms like Twilio. This step includes reviewing and verifying the information provided by the business or organization who intends to use the A2P messaging services.

Twilio, for example, follows a meticulous validation process before approving the submission. The validation process typically takes about 2 to 3 weeks. During that time, the submitted information is carefully examined to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

Searching Phone Numbers

During Twilio’s review and approval period, users can search for and use Phone Numbers by utilizing toll-free phone numbers. This feature ensures that businesses can continue their operations and prepare for A2P messaging without causing any interruptions.
