Event staff only need basic familiarity with the Mobile Check-in app—no technical expertise is required. Session Check-in Restriction While Mobile Check-in app users can check in Attendees for Sessions with the app, they cannot use the Swift Mode feature to check in Attendees for Sessions. ## What is Swift Mode? The Swift Mode feature for the Mobile Check-in app is designed to make the Event check-in experience faster and more reliable, especially for large Events or when internet connectivity is limited. Unlike the traditional approach, where each check-in is sent to the server one at a time (a “one-off” sync), Swift Mode works by saving all check-ins locally on your device as you go. When you're ready to sync, these check-ins are then grouped and sent to the server in a single batch. The batching process greatly reduces the number of API calls made to the server, speeding up the check-in process and helping prevent slowdowns and errors when handling thousands of Attendees. By syncing in batches, Swift Mode ensures that check-ins are quick, efficient, and less likely to be interrupted by network issues, making it ideal for busy, high-volume Events. ## Compare Standard Check-in to Swift Mode | Feature | Standard Mobile Check-in | Swift Mode Check-in | | --- | --- | --- | | Enablement | Default | Toggle *Swift Check‑In Mode* + optional *Continuous Scan Mode* in Settings | | QR code / External ID | One‑at‑a‑time scan > Attendee page (tap **Save**) | 4× faster camera launch, confirmation beep, no attendee page displayed | | Search | Partial matches OK (e.g., “Ada L”), full list displayed | Exact first or last name or email or company only, no scrollable list (faster query) | | Offline | Optional Offline Mode (manual toggle); [External ID](https://docs.blackthorn.io/docs/mobile-checkin-app-external-id) is disabled when offline | Does not require Wi-Fi except for the initial loading of Attendees and the later syncing of Attendees, which can be done before and after the Event; External ID is disabled when offline | | Sync | Manual **Refresh** button; no batch IDs; occasional data conflicts for high volume events | Sync Manager page, progress bars, Request IDs & retry | | High‑volume scan | Must re‑open scanner after scanning each QR code | Continuous Scan Mode—keeps the camera open until you no longer need to scan QR codes | ## Set Up and Use Swift Mode Complete the steps below to set up Swift Mode and check in Attendees. 1.
